Hi,
I'm sure that what I have to tell you is not good news to you. prostatitis can be very difficult to treat. I started to have problems at the age og about 20. I got married at the age of 25 and my problems only have gotten worse. I'm 46 now.
I do not thinkt that premature ejeculation has to do with prostatitis.
From the age of about 24 to 30 I have had problems with prostatitis without doctors being able to determined what caused it. At about 30 things got worse for me, I now got UTI or kidney infections about ever 3 to 4 months requiring hospitalizations.
I too had the problem with not being able to complete urination and like you said the last drops and up in your pants. It feels like there is urine in the urethra but you can;t force it out.
Treament for prostatis is not a set thing as it seems to differ from person to person. The difficulty arises when there is no sign of infection that would lead up to the simptoms.
For myself I have been urinating sitting down using the toilet and than slowly standing up letting the last drops fall into the toilet. The problem that I had though is that shortly after it feels like I did not void completely. Another trick that I have found to work is to allpy pressure on the urethra after having finished urination. I apply pressure just below the scrotum and work my way down to the penis. Actually squeezing the last bit of urine out.
In 1996 after having had prostate and bladder surgery to try and relief some of my symptoms, it was discovered that I have a neurogenic bladder. I sort of wish that I would have known that before the surgery. Currently I have more extensive urological problems worse than what I started with.
My advice to you is to treat symptoms as they come. Prostatitis is not well understood and might have different causes. Do not agree to any procedures that are not reversable (avoid surgeries). There are different medications that can be tried but they have their side effects. I have had very poor results with herbal products, but that is not to say that they won't work for you.
Avoid situations where you sit lots. As small as the impact may be it does have an impact on the prostate. Make sure that you have regular bowel movements. Straining during a bowel movement can cause problems.
The number one to avoid is to ride a bicycle. The seats apply a lot of pressure to the prostate. The bad part of this is that it is a constant movement irritating the prostate.
For the last 3 years I have had a urethral catheter for one year and a suprapubic for the last two years. Even sitting on a riding mower mowing my yard I can feel the results of contsant movement of the prostatic urethra. I avoid these things when I can, however the grass needs to be mowed. As slight as it may be I also notice the movements if I use a wheelchair.
Try to avoid any activities that could cause irritation of the prostate. Limmit coffee or cafeine intake, avoid spicy foods. A warm bath will give some temporary relief.
I hope that you will be able to find some relief. Should you have any further questions, I'm willing to share what I know.
All the best.
Ron
