Dear Dr. Singh,
I too have peyronie's however it might have resulted from Caverject injections due to ED.
I have been afraid to mention it to my urologist, as I have seen treatment for this resulting in some males getting circumcised as the result of the Nesbit procedure.
Is it possible to have this surgery performed without having to reseort to circumcision?
If I understand it right, during the Nesbit surgergical procedure a cut in the skin is made just below the glans and the skin is moved back to the base of the penis. Circumcision is done to prevent swelling, paraphimosis of the foreskin.
I'm currently at a point where I have to make a decision in getting surgery for urinary divertion of urine due to a fistula and a neurogenic bladder, there is a possibility of remaining with the suprapubic catheter. I'm at a point where I would like to restore my sex life with my wife and therefore consider having the penis straightened. However I'm strongly against circumcision. Is it possible to have the procedure without me getting circumcised?
Sincerely,
Ron
Hello,
Peyronie’s disase is a connective tissue disorder involving the growth of fibrous plaques in the soft tissue of the penis. These plaques cause the penis to be bent. The disease starts as a small bump or constriction on the shaft of the penis below the skin and then consequently curving of the erect penis occurs. Treatment is by medicines like vitamin E, colchicines, Verapamil or Potoba and surgical intervention which is the definitive treatment.
N acetyl cysteine is also proposed to be useful for pyeronie’s disease but should be taken only after a urologist’s prescription.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
