Actually Dr the Famvir has helped with the pain so maybe it was something similar to a viral infection. But I called my doc yesterday and I my chlamydia and herpes test came back negative. He also has referred me to a dermatologist. Thanks for your feedback!
Hello,
Famvir is an antiviral drug used for viral infections like herpes. Sometimes blisters of herpes are often preceded by tingling and pain and your doctor may be suspecting it to be the start of herpes infection, hence he has prescribed this drug.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Also my doctor prescribed famvir but I don't have genital herpes. Can Famvir help with penis pain?
Hello,
If you are sexually active then throbbing pain and redness can be due to STD’s. Other possibilities are allergies, contact dermatitis, infections or chafing. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a dermatologist.
I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
First of all you should rule out any possibility of an STI so go to a clinic for a full check up. Even if you dont think that an STI is possible, i still suggest you go as regular sexual health checks ups are extremely important in all our lives as the people that work there are trained to spot all the things that we dont, STI related or not.
Secondly you should keep a food diary. Men in particular often have relations bewteen the health of their genital areas and their diet, especially if you are consuming excessive amounts of caffeine or sugary foods as caffeine is a vasoconstrictor meaning that blood is not pumping round to all the areas of the body as effectively. If you notice a trend between certain foods/drink and the condition of your penis then simply cut on whatever is affecting you.
If your problem continues of you develop further symptoms then ask your GP to refer you to a urologist to rule out inflamed prostate glands (prostatitis), an inflammed ureathra (urethritis), infection or other possible causes. They will likely take urine samples, seminal fluid samples, blood tests and perform a prostate examination to identify a cause.
