Hi,
Coagulase negative staphylococci normally don’t cause infection in humans. They are known as commensals (friends of humans) and they are usually present on the skin or in the case of females in the vagina. However, in the case of decreased immunity, they can cause infections. Absence of the enzyme makes them less virulent but simultaneously difficult to treat. They are resistant to the commonly used antibiotics and only high end antibiotics are used for their treatment. The treatment against them should be started only after the confirmation that they are the culprits, otherwise, there’s a high chance they simply may be present in the culture as contaminants. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

Thanks Dr

So is there any cause of concern..coz it does not produce tht enzyme??What medication can i take? What is it caused due to?

I have noticed a discharge in august (just 1 time)from penis and presently very little discharge , which made me do the test. Im not really able to figure the reason why the discharge has been occuring

I further also have gone for a "chlamydia" test .. result will be out 3 days later.

Hi,
Coagulase negative staphylococcus (it’s staph and not staff) is a class of bacteria that don’t produce an enzyme called coagulase. They are one of the organisms that can cause urinary tract infections. The + sign means they have been found in the urine. The differential word is actually for the differential diagnosis or the possible diagnosis. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
