blood and sugar in urine?

On the 26th March 2008 I had a water infection with burning when urinating and frequent urination I was treated with antibiotics cipro trimethoprim and cipro now then infection has gone but there it still blood in my urine. I went the other day to check if it was still present and they said yes and also there is sugar in it, what could this mean?? I have discomfort in my lower abdomen and its painful when I walk. I am being referred to urology but havent been feeling myself for a while now I have lost over 2 stone and have no appetite what so ever!! I was wandering if I ask my doctor to do a test for ovarian cancer if he would do it??

any replies appreciated

I am no expert or Dr. but I have had microscopic blood recently discovered in my urine.  I have been researching it alot and I have read that blood and sugar in your urine could be a sign of diabetes.  Maybe you can ask your Dr. to test you for that.  Try to stay calm.  I know its hard and am having a hard time myself but stress makes all things worse.  Keep me posted.
