I am a 31 year old male, for the last 2 months been having aches in one of the testicles. Went to a urologist and upon examination he said nothing wrong with the testicles and urinalysis was normal. Went to another urologist and found everything is normal and requested a sonogram. Urinalysis showed hematuria. .A follow up at 3 weeks again showed hematuria and the sono was normal except for microlithiasis. The doctor asked for CT scan and cystoscope. The following day I went to a family doctor and urinalysis was normal and no hematuria. My main concern is hematuria being present twice at the same urologist's office and not present at the other two doctors' offices.
How are you? Hematuria can be caused by a variety of issues such as vigorous exercise, sexual activity, viral illness, trauma, or infection. Factors that increase the chance of hematuria include a family history of kidney disease, an enlarged prostate, urinary stone disease, certain medications, and strenuous exercise. It is good that you were able to see your doctor and had the tests done. Each laboratory differs in their machines, tests and reference values. This could be a factor in your differing results. As long as you do not have the risk factors, you can monitor your urine test for hematuria for a period of time to make sure that hematuria is present. You can also check with another urologist for a second opinion to ease any anxiety. Take care and do keep us posted.
