Sunday Weigh in October 22, 2023

Good morning... how is everyone on this fine morning?  We're off to a cool, but beautiful start to the day.   I, and my neighbor, have been out for our morning walk. I was comfortable in a short sleeved T-shirt, with no sweating.

It's been a busy week for me, but a good one.  I'm feeling a little better and actually, got some work done, both outside and inside.   The new medication I'm taking for my neuropathy seems to be helping, though not as much as I'd hoped, but it might pick up more in the coming weeks.  I think 2 things are helping, as far as energy - 1 is upping my thyroid dose and the other is lowering (weaning off) the Duloxetine I've been on for neuropathy.  Duloxetine causes, both, tiredness/fatigue and weight gain.  At any rate, I've only had a nap one day this week, whereas, normally, I need one every day.

So, because of my "renewed energy", I was able to dig some bookcases out of a shed and relocate them to my calligraphy/paint room (some call it a studio - to me, it's a confiscated spare bedroom...lol).  Anyway, I had junk tossed into the shed that needed to be sorted and stuff sitting in piles on the floor in my calligraphy room, so I got busy and sorted the junk in the shed, which resulted in a trip to the dump and freeing up the bookcases that were buried under the junk.   I got them cleaned up and into the house; from there the piles on the floor got sorted into the bookcases.  I still have things on tables, etc that need to be sorted to the bookcases and am working on that as time allows.  At least I can walk through the room without stubbing my toes on "stuff".

Anyway, between calligraphy meetings and classes and painting classes, I haven't had a lot of time to do much for projects, but am hoping to get a chance to work on something (a get well card) this afternoon.  If anyone is interested, I posted a photo of my first ever (almost finished) acrylic painting. I've been taking lessons for about 8 weeks... that was our second project.  I did not get to finish the first one, but I will as soon as I get some time.

Okay - so, in spite of all my activity, I've gained about 0.6 lb from last week.  That could be fluid, building muscle from walking and other activity, still from medication or because my tummy is a bit bloated.  I had been taking fiber caps every day and I've gotten a bit lax with that.  I'll have to get back on them.  I've also gotten lax with my vitamin D and magnesium - those could also help account for the increased energy as I was taking them regularly when we changed the thyroid dose and made other med changes.  I have a tendency to be inconsistent with supplements because it seems like I'm taking pills all day.

All that said - I'm still down 4 lbs from when I saw the doctor at the beginning of the month, so I'm okay with bouncing up by 0.6 lb for the week.

So that's my story.  How are y'all doing?  I hope you've had a good week and were able to meet your goal(s).  My ongoing goal is to lose a pound/week - as you know, all too often that doesn't happen.  :-)

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

My weight is where it was was last week, maybe down .2 or .3 of a pound. That's not so bad because I was down a pound then, and although I could handle losing more weight, I generally seem to look OK (credit to Pilates). But my waist is still about two inches out of line with my other measurements when it comes to what clothing sizes assume. (For example, if I buy a skirt that fits my waist, it's baggy in the seat.) During the pandemic, it hardly mattered because I just wore jeans all the time. But this last couple of weeks I've been shopping for something to wear to my mother's memorial service, and the last dress I tried on made me look like the Queen Mary.

We've had some pretty fall weather here for several days. Today it's misty and grey. I wasn't able to get to sleep last night until 3 am, so am pooped this morning, but have to get going on things like taking the dog to the vet and getting the car in for an oil change. Not very lively, but I'll feel better when all that is done.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Don't we wish it was possible to lose the weight from wherever we need to?   Even when I only weighed 100 lbs, I had saddlebags and could not get rid of them... just my body type, I guess.   Now, it doesn't matter - I need the "alloverweightloss" concept.  :-)   I'd love to have the problem of something having a baggy seat... lol   I stopped wearing jeans because I had UTI all the time.  I found some pants on Amazon that I like.  I'm not big on leggings, but these, technically, yoga pants, but they have flared (or straight) legs so don't hug the body so tightly.  They're stretchy and  move with me.  I wear longer shirts that cover my never-ending saddlebags.  :-)  Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of a dress for your mother's memorial service, does it?

We're having beautiful fall weather, as well.   At least, we did last week.  I think this week is going to be warmer. Oh, sorry you had trouble sleeping - I hate when that happens because I'm not good for anything the next day.  Getting things done, does have a tendency to make us feel better, though, doesn't it?

Enjoy your week.
Lately my sisters are hinting to me that I'm going too formal of a direction for a memorial service in the Unitarian Church, that people will mostly wear muted usual daytime clothes, not black. I might have been barking up the wrong tree even looking for a dress.

I know those stretchy things made for yoga, I'm really impressed with the improvements in fabric technology over the last few years. No wonder women wear yoga clothes everywhere, they are that comfortable.
