I didnt even think the burning sensation on my arm could be from lexipro. I have been on it for about a year now with no side effects, however I am experiencing similar burning in my arm and can not come up with any cause.

I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if you ever found the cause of the burning down arms and chest?  I'm experiencing this now (usually only when sleeping) after being on Lexapro for 2 weeks.

I'm experiencing this also. Been on lexapro 5-10mg for a month and am now on 20mg for a month. I get a horrible burning sensation on my arms, stomach and chest it feels like it is on fire. I also get extreme waves of nausea and stomach upsets. Did it get worse or better for you the longer you were on it? The Lexapro is helping alot with my anxiety symptoms but every night i go to sleep im so scared for the burning to start. (Been woken up twice by thw burning and had it twice right before drifting off to sleep).
I've been having the burning down my arms after being on lexipro for 10 days. It comes and goes. I take an Ativan when it gets severe to keep myself from having a bad attack. The doctor at the emergency room told me to get the medication time and to call my regular doctor.
i've been on Lexapro for 10 years and was recently told that if you're over 60 you shouldn't be taking any more than 10 mg as it may pose heart issues.  I have been slowly weaning off to avoid side effects by taking it down 5 mg every month I am now down to 10 mg.  I have been experiencing a severe burning itching and I've been living on Benadryl for the past month on and off.  In my search it looks like Lexapro withdrawl may be why I'm experiencing this.  It's awful - it starts with getting very hot and red at several patches all over my body and then into a prickly itch.  How long will this take?  Is this medication really that powerful  to affect the histamine?  And it's a catch 22 -  I'm too anxious to get out of the house to go to the doctor to figure out what's going on.  Any comments are appreciated thank you
I have the same burning in my chest and arms....it has been the worst of all my side effects.  Did anyone do any better eventually?

I have taken Lexapro, Paxil, and Pristiq for anxiety. I never experienced burning down my arms and in my chest and stomach until I tried these different meds. My doctor told me that the medications could have raised my serotonin level to high, and that could have contibuted to the burning. I have had many panic attack attacts in the past, but never experienced the burning sensations before. I'm still looking for the answer. I do alot of research on my own and have educated myself in this area. keep reading everything you can about anxiety. It helps to see that you are not alone.

My neuro. had me try Lyrica, for my feet and palm pins and needle pain, but it made me too dizzy, so I am on neuronton for that. I went to the psyc. to get off xanax. I will do what he says, as far as new meds are concerned. He knows what I want to do, but he feels my anxiety has gone on for too many years, that I'll need to be on something, so we are trying Lexapro. I was just increased to 20mg. for 5 days, and had to call him , my skin was crawling and I was sooo ansey. He dropped me back down to 10 mg.   We'll keep trying! I don't know when we'll try to remove the lorazepam.

I have burning skin all over also from anxiety - Lyrica is really suppose to help with this also Cymbalta.  Have you tried either of these.  Lorazepam use to help but I became tolerant of it and am now weaning off.  It's hard I was on 5 mg a day and am now down to 2.5 mg.  Try not to use it if you don't have to as you do become tolerant and will need more.  Ativan (Lorazepam is short acting and doesn't stay in your system very long.  They say 6 hrs.  Sounds like your anxiety isn't too bad.  Mine started off very severe.

I am on day 3 of 20mg. I started out on a lower dose and am working up. W hen I start to increase the strength, I have more anxiety and am more jumpy,  I will see the dr. in 10 days, and if it has not subsided by then, I'll tell him. He also switched me from xanax .5, to lorazepam .5 mg. Although I don't think it is the Lorazepam.
My burning only lasts about 15 min. so far.

Hi lou yes burning skin and burning in the head and chest pain and numbness and tingling starts in my face and continues through my body. My psy said give the medicine time 6 wks but I can't continue on this way it has to not be the right one for me. Been on it 3wks but weaned off of paxil and wasn't sure if it were paxil withdrawl or the lexapro affects. Tonight I timed it took it earlier than I normally do and after an hour began the numbing sensation and burning it got stronger and stronger and now its not as bad 3 hrs later. How long have u been on it? How many mg?
