microdot calcification

several microdot calicifications were found in one breast on the yearly mammogram.  I was told not to worry has they are most probably benign and to return for additional views in 6 months.  Is this a reasonable approach or should I search out other advice?  Thanks YiYi

The recheck in 6 months certainly sounds reasonable to me. It only mentions the microcalcifications with no mention of grouping or clusters. Microcalcifications often appear normally in breast tissue and are considered a benign finding. When they are seen in certain clusters or patterns they can be indicative of a problem.

The radiologist via the nurse at the womens health center told me this is"ok" but needs to be monitored.  I have not heard from my doctor.  I am 63 with no discomfort other then from the "additional view" procedure.

Hi yiyi, if you don't have any discharge from the breast or any kind of discomfort on the breast, they may be right. But in my sister's case she had a micro calcification over 9 cm all over her breast and some nipple discharge turned out to be the BC. So, check your condition and how told you that this is Ok, doctor or the radiologist and also how old are you?
