Extra Skin/Fat??

I was an obese child growing up and when I hit puberty I lost about 100 pounds.

I've maintained a weight of 137 pounds for almost 8 years now. In the winter's I usually gain some weight. Right now I have a couple extra "rolls" of fat or skin on my stomach..

I need a good way to get rid of them??

Ranae has said it best. That's was exactly what I meant, in a humorous way, to let you know you need to drink more water. She just gave you a great advice. I love pilates! You should try it.
Good Luck.

Hi Michelle - PrettyKitty gave you some great advice.  As for the water, think she is letting you know you need to be drinking water.  Our bodies need it to function properly.

Hope you'll stay involved here in the community and please let us know if you'd like some help with some specific tummy exercises .. you may even want to do a post on that subject and see what the community members have to offer.

Personally, pilates exercises help build your core muscles and so does yoga.  You may want to try those along with any crunches or exercises specifically for your abs.

Hi Michelle,

I know what you’re saying. My mom is struggling with that, too.  When you pinch it, is your skin loose and thin or is it thick? If the skin looks/feels like a very thin, soft, loose layer then there may not be fat there, or at least not too much. The only way to get rid of excess skin, that I know of, is surgery.

Now, if you’re talking about the excess skin that most people experience, which has a little bit of fat and it feels rather hard, then your best friend will be cardio and the weights. You could also take toning classes so the instructors show you how to use the weights properly and safely. You could hire a personal trainer, or you could buy a fitness book  that shows you how to use the correct equipment the right way. There will always be THAT exercise for THAT specific area you want to work on. So I guess with cardio and weight training you could do a lot of improvement.

How's your water intake?
