Quit hydrocodone

Today is my first day off hydros.  Its starting to feel pretty rough.  Starting to feel the chills and the tension.  Been here before but I really want to quit thius time.  Starting to feel depressed really bad.  How long will this depression last?

For me 4-5 days...does depend on dose and length of use...hang in there and keep posting

A lot depends on how long and how much you abused the drug. WD's last from a few days for most to 2 weeks for others. Mental part last longer because you have to learn to deal with everything without the pills. Some good info is to read about PAWS-post addictive withdrawal syndrome. You are still in the really early stages at this point just focus on each day right now.

I've been through this process a few more times than I'd like to admit.  For me the only physical problems I have are mild nausea, decreased appetite, low energy, and diarrhea.  That lasts about 5-7 days.  The mental part is what I have a harder time with.  I had depression before I started taking hydro, so the depression gets pretty bad and Ican cry like a baby for about a week, then just have bad cravings and high anxiety.  But that's after c/t from about 150 mgs per day.  I have relapsed a few times, but don't even take half of that amount when I do, so hopefully one of these times it will stick.  With the lesser amount the w/d's aren't as bad.  A lot depends on how much you took and for how long.  Best of Luck!!

Everyone is different. I didn't have any depression at first then about 3 weeks later it hit me hard. My sister was depressed and crying on day 1.  From reading on here for months it seems it passes for most after a week or two.  Don't be surprised to find yourself crying for a week. That seems to be very common.  Keep reading and posting it helps to know your not alone.

hey im at least at day 10 of not using oxycontin, i feel almost 100% now, the depression might linger for  a  little while but i noticed the main anxiety was gone by day 5. i was over the worst part of the withdrawals (chills ect) by day 4. you'll make it just hang in there.
