Xanax Addiction

OK, guys/gals.  I get a script for 120 1mg xanax monthly.  The whole 120 script is gone in 7 or 8 days. I am almost taking 15 mgs a day.  When I run out, I feel like I am going to die.  The hand tremors, the weight loss, right now I weigh 150 lbs. in April of 2007 I weighed 206 which is perfect for a 6'0 tall person.
How in god's name am I supposed to kick this habit??  If anyone has any ideas please forward them on.  Thank You.

Well since my first post, I've had nothing, but advil for this headache that feels like my head will explode.  Even after 1 month, I still have the shakes and worstly of all the cold sweats.  Question is, should I even get my script filled or rough it out from here on in???
Yes I am having some minor withdrawls.

Right now, I just took my last 10 pills, so no more until next refill.  I do not buy off the streets and have no other sources.  I can get my next refill on 2-11-09 maybe a day or two before.  So for today I will be OK, then the nightmare begins.

Hello First off never quit cold turkey they can kill you  you can have siezures and so on, What you need to do is if you have a friend that you can trust you need to take them as your doctor wrote for you then very slowly tapper off them like if you take 3 blues a day then go to 21/2 take down by halfs i mena at end it will be hard first 3 days and sleep will come back to you that is your best bet do you have a problem w/anything else?

If I understand correctly,  you are taking a month supply in one week and then going 3 weeks without, why refill your script at all? after 3 weeks you should be through the majority of the w/d and serously on the road to recovery...read the thomas recipe and amino acid protocol...stock up on fluids, exercise ...post and keep reading threads.. good luck, stay strong

First of all that is a lot of xanax you are taking. I have detoxed off of valium and xanax. Depending on your self control you can do this at home with out having to go to a hospital to detox.

You are going to have to taper off it slowly because of the risk of siezures. And when I say slowly I mean slowly. This could take several months to do and you have to want to kick this habit. If you have someone to hold them for you so you don't take more than your taper plan prescribes you should be able to do this on your own.

Again, and I cannot stress this enough, do not try to go cold turkey, it could kill you.

Good luck

wow youre lucky you havent suffered any seizures from that nightmare rollercoaster youre putting your body through. Im not sure what to tell you on this one...so you are saying you go thru your Rx in one week, then wait 3 weeks to get a refill? Or are you getting "extras" off the streets or from people you know to keep you limping along til refill date?  If you are going 3 weeks without any xanax at all, then MAYBE you can get thru it without getting the seizures, but again Im not sure on this. YOu need to talk to a trained DR who is knowledgable in this or a pharamcist (they tend to nknow more about this than most doctors do)
