am i a schizoid or schizotypal or what

im an 18 year old male, and i have obsessive compulsive disorder, but im starting to realize that maybe something else is wrong with me. i have taking tests on the computer to see what they would say and there are like 10 different disorders that pop up, shizoid personality disorder, schizotypal, dependent, avoidant, narcissistic, histrionic, anti social and paranoid. alot of these are so similiar tho that i dont know which one i could have. i do have problems with being around people. id rather be alone that be around a crowd. i do avoid people and i feel uncomfortable around people i dont know. i take things that my friends say and i feel like they are putting me down and disrespecting me. i have trouble feeling emotions. its like im coldhearted. like i cant feel anything when i should be crying. i just dont know which one of these it is, or however many disorders i have, i dont think its all of them though because alot of them are similiar and are alot alike and maybe thats why my results came back with so many different disorders. i dont know, schizoid resulted higher for me than schizotypal, but all the symptoms of schizotypal fit me. i think dependent might have been the one that came back highest for my results, could dependent be causing me to have symptoms like the ones caused by the rest of this stuff. i dont know, i just want someone to give me some advice if u have any.

What test did you take? Many of these tests can be misleading. Its important to understand that only a consultation with a psychiatrist could determine whether you have any of these diagnoses. If you have concerns the best way to follow up is by asking your parents to take you to a psychologist or see a counselor and ask them for a referral. They can determine if you need a further referral from there.

I have made a full recovery from schizoaffective disorder with an antipsychotic in Phase II FDA study so I can look back at the past and say I experienced similar issues. I did think I had ocd at first and was misdiagnosed. When I was correctly diagnosed it turned out I had schizoaffective disorder and I asked my psychiatrist at the time where the "obsesive thoughts" came from and he said they were masking psychotic thoughts. However, a person can have both. There are studying the criteria "schizo-obsessive disorder". Perhaps that would apply to me once they understand it because although I don't have psychotic thoughts anymore I have some aspects of ocd. I would strongly suggest though that you not go through some form of test online. Just the same way we can't provide a diagnosis its not helpful to self diagnose.
It is helpful if you can to write down a list of all the symptoms you have and when they occur. You can bring that to a psychiatrist and then it will be easier for them to diagnose you. And then sure once diagnosed as long as its a medically accurate site such as the ones on the links page for bipolar and its not to scare yourself it is worth understanding your particular psychiatric disability and how its treated. But you may not be completely aware of everything that's wrong in your life and why. Many people before treatment, myself included have a lack of self awareness. Speak to a psychiatrist and tell them exactly what's going on and let them make a diagnosis and then speak to them about what exactly they think is going. Its generally very helpful as I've found.

What bulldozer says is true we are not professionals and while many of us have medical or psychaitric training we're not doctors. Some advice about going to doctors here, be COMPLETELY honest and as concise as you can. The doctors here are to be honest **** at best and when you find one who will help he or she will dawldle around at best and take a long time.

Good luck

The only person/persons who can accurately diagnose you are the professionals.  If your behaviours/feelings/reactions are making life difficult for you then you need to seek help from a psychiatrist.

Nobody on here can diagnose you and even symptoms you describe are recognized as belonging to a particular disorder it would be wrong of us to suggest that you have a disorder.

We can offer you advice and support with regard to helping you sort out your feelings and getting the correct help.  The first step being to find yourself a psychiatrist.

im withdrawn, i dont like meeting new people, im lazy, i dont work or have a desire to work, im afraid of trying new things, i dont have confidence, im very suspicous and i dont trust anyone. i rely on people to do things for me. if i were out on my own, i wouldnt know how to take care of myself. i dont even want to take time to learn things i should learn. i always feel different, as tho im not like other people. im cursed and people see me differently or something. i always think people are putting me down by the things they say and i get mad over it. i have dull emotions. i dont feel sad when i should. i feel nervous around other people. i always have these arguments with myself. i'll think something bad about someone and then i'll tell myself dont think like that, dont be like that, and then guilt sets in, its terrible.

People with schizotypal are usually very extremely socially withdrawn and depressed but its very hard to put you into a catagory based on what youve said, if you do indeed need a catagory.

Could we have some more information about you? Im not sure how im infering this but you sound British to me is that correct?

We just need all your symptoms that you believe are''odd'' or ''not normal'' and explain them in my detail, write as much as you like we're all here to help people who need it regardless of whether you have a Bipolar disorder or any other mood affective or psychotic illness or episode.
