brain stem gliomas

My 6yr old has just being diagnosed with a pons glioma non resectable. The treating centre in Perth Australia want to give a trial drug that makes this tumour sensitive to radiation. MMy first question is what is it called. My second question is regarding radiotherapy If you have a 6wk course of radiotherapy every day and it shrinks the tumour will it then become resectable. If it shrinks the tumour  and it cannot still be resected can she have repeated treatments to keep it at bay.

In general, pontine gliomas are not resectable (even after radiation).  Radiation is usually main form of treatment and the goal is to slow or arrest the tumor's growth.  As for the name of the drug, there are multiple clinical trials and I think that you'll have to find out the name of the drug from the doctors in Australia.
