Itch

Should I worry about an itch on the nipple of my breast?  I've had it for several days on one side only.  It's becoming very uncomfortable.

Dear Iodine:  Nipple itching can be associated with many totally benign skin problems.  However, itching on the nipple can also be associated with a certain type of breast cancer, called Paget's disease.  Since, this is only on one side, you should consider having it checked out, particularly if the itching is associated with scaling skin, bleeding, redness, or burning.
