Male areolar hyperplasia

Male areolar hyperplasia

Hello,

I'm a 35 yr old male, about a year ago I noticed a dime-sized discoloration on both areola that progressively became more noticable.  It is a bilateral whiteish / yellowish discoloration with a noticable mass or thickness beneath the skin.  I went to two dermatologists and had a biopsy which didn't reveal anything.  My first dermatologist thought it could be vitiligo but my second derm (who is an expert in vitiligo) said it was not due to the yellowish coloring.  No doctors have been able to help me so far and I'm struggling to figure out where to go next.  Hopefully this is not cancerous but the cosmetic aspects are also undesireable.  Do I need to go to a breast specialist?

thank you

Dear Ctown, The skin on the breast is like skin elsewhere on the body and subject to a variety of skin problems.  From what you describe, having had this biopsied and evaluated by dermatologists would seem most appropriate.   However without ability to evaluate and examine it is difficult to determine what further evaluation would be best.
