Mammogram

by nicole75455, Feb 04, 2009 04:23PM
A few weeks ago I found a lump in my left breast, I had an ultrasound done, which showed nothing, and then I had a mammogram done. During the mammogram the radiologist asked me if I drank alot of caffeine, which I only drink like one coke a day and maybe a glass of tea, because I love water. So I told her no. Why would she ask if I drank alot of caffeine during a mammogram? I am only 20 years old and this is the first mammogram that I have had.

Dear nicole75455, Cannot say for sure why she asked about caffeine consumption but some believe that caffeine can be involved in breast changes.  However, there isn't consistent scientific evidence that caffeine is involved in breast changes or that restricting caffeine intake can reduce these changes.
