My daughter, 31 years old, will be going through surgery next week for Chairi 1 along with Basiliar Invagination. It is considered to be a birth defect, and has just in the past 3 years started showing symptoms. The surgery will be from 4-6 hours. The surgeon is Dr. Chuck Rosen, at the WVU Hospital in Morgantown, WV. I have all the faith in the world in him. Of course he had to tell us all the bad along with the good (if any) envolved in the surgical procedure. As of now long term effects will be limited mobility of her head such as nodding or turning from left to right due to the titanium rods and screws to be used in stabilization of the spine. Please keep her in your prayers.
