Chronic Gagging Persistent Cough

I have taken mother to countless hospitals, physicians etc and none has ever given me a diagnosis to her condition.  We have stop sleeping trying countless homeopathic remedies that nutritionist have suggested and her condition remains the same.  She was tested for allergies and she shows no resistance to anything.  Where is this horrendous cough coming from.  Mother is 83.  She doesn't deserve to be suffering like this.  Please tell me where can I take her?  What more can we do?

I so agree that at 83 your dear Mother should not be suffering like this. It has to be very frustrating that all these hospitals, doctors, etc. have yet to give you and your Mother a diagnosis. I would strongly suggest taking your Mother to a pulmonary specialist and insisting on a diagnosis. You both deserve a diagnosis, after all the previous attempts. To have an ongoing chronic cough, is an indication that something is amiss. I am no medical expert, but that is my opinion anyway. I know when a loved one is suffering, you will try anything to help them. Nothing wrong in the homeopathic approach at all. But, your Mother obviously needs to be prescribed possible medication at this point. I know and can sense in your post, how very worried you are about your Mother. I lost my Mother Aug. 2007. She was 69. Momma had a deadly lung disease called pulmonary fibrosis. Momma passed away 4 mths. after a single lung transplant. It absolutely tore me all to pieces, to watch how she suffered. So, I very much know how you are feeling. God Bless you for being such a good daughter. And God Bless your precious Mother. I too have a lung disease called COPD. One of the symptoms is a chronic cough, but I have other symptoms as well. Anyway, my suggestion is a pulmonary specialist. Has your Mother had any recent lung xrays and a test called a spirometry? The spirometry is a painless and very simple breathing test. It measures how much air that you can breathe out and how fast. A lung xray and the spirometry determined I had COPD. My family doctor performed these tests on me and diagnosed COPD. I though then told my family doctor, that I wanted a second opinion. So, I went to a pulmonary doctor and the diagnosis was the same...COPD.  I am not saying your Mother has COPD, but obviously something is going on with your Mother. And I know you suspect it, too. Hope this has helped you somewhat. I pray you find answers for your Mother.
