My 87 yr. old Mother was just diagnosed with a 6cm. Aorta Aneurysm. The other day, they drained 1-qt. of fluid around one of her lungs & 1-1/2 qts. of fluid around the other. Is it possible that the fluid build-up is a result of the large Aneurysm? If so, will the fluid return? I'm asking this because her Heart Specialist said that she is not a candidate for corrective surgery because of her age & health condition. He said that she would not survive the surgery. As it is, my understanding is that the aneurysm will continue to grow & the final result is terminal.
