Just Had J-Pouch Reversal Surgery

by snow4, Jan 05, 2009 12:48PM
I had my first surgery 10/13/2008 to remove my colon (ulcerative colitis) and put in temporary ileostomy bag. I had the reversal surgery done on 12/30/2008. I was released from the hospital on 1/2/2009. The Dr said everything went well. My question is: I have very uncomfortable gas pains in my lower abdominal area. Is this normal? I've been taking Gas-X and Imodium (immodium). Any other suggestions on how to relieve the pain?

Thanks.

Hi,
The best thing to do is to avoid gas forming food items.
These means avoiding food items like cabbage, beans, cheese, alcohol, carbonated drinks etc.
Simethicone would also be helpful.
But in case of persistence of pain report to the doctor to see if the pain is due to any other cause.
