Ulcerative Colitis

I am writing on behalf of a friend diagnosed with a severe form of ulcerative colitis.  He has lost approx 25 pounds and is presently 12 days in the hospital.   They tried a cortisone treatment called deltazone, but his intestines did not heal.  After another colonoscopy, the doctors are presently treating him with cortisone called solumedrol.  This morning he ate breakfast with one bowel movement.  After lunch, a couple of hours later, he vomitted and had another bowel movement.  In addition, he is now having right lower abdomen pains even after taking a painkiller.  These pains are different than the usual pains he gets.  Where is this pain coming from now?  Please help.
