Epilepsy and Migraines

by Lauren_RN, Aug 26, 2009 10:12AM
I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2005 at 23 years old (partial complex seizures).  Once I was medicated, I was well-controlled and seizure free.  I recently had a seizure in July of this year, and hit my head when I lost consciousness during the seizure.  I also have a 10-year history of migraines, which have always been easily managed.  After this seizure, my migraines have been out of control: preventatives do not work, my usual pain medications are ineffective, and I live with a migraine every day.  My neurologist and I are running out of options.

Testing after the seizure showed an abnormal EEG (no change from baseline), and a normal CT and MRI.  Could my seizure could have caused something to occur with my migraines, even though nothing is structurally changed?

Thank you so much for your time.
