Permanent Damage from Past Grand Mal Seizures?

Permanent Damage from Past Grand Mal Seizures?

I have a history of both petit and grand mal seizures.  My last seizures were 11 years ago when I had 3 grand mal within 3 hours.  I am not currently on medicine due to near level toxicity issues from Depakote use.  To my knowledge, I have not had any petit or grand mal seizures since the ones 11 years ago.

I have had a worsening issue with dizziness and some vertigo.  It is occasional with most dizziness occuring during movement (vehicle, etc.) or simply sitting and watching movement (clouds, traffic, etc.).  Tests from ENTs stated vestibular migraine but I am wondering if this condition has been caused because of the intense electrical storms during those 3 grand mal seizures.  The symptoms started very mildly within a couple of years of those seizures but seemed overall controlled when I was on Depakote.  When I withdrew from Depakote, my daily dizziness and occasional vertigo have worsen particularly as I get older.

Could it be possible that those 3 seizures damaged vestibular and/or optic nerves and is the reason for these issues,  and is there any tests which could show this?

Thanks!

I posted this to what I thought was 'ask a doctor' section - did NOT realize that it would be reposted in the general.  I was hoping for an answer from a physician.

Thanks to dualdis3 for sharing his experiences - looks like I am not the only one with this funky side issue!!!
