Short Term Memory/seizures

by aliciayc, Nov 04, 2009 07:27PM
On 31/10/2009, I strongly believed I've experienced a small seizure in the bathroom. I've had seizures before. But at that moment, I believed I was aware of my surroundings. By the time I came out of the shower, my head was hurting, my jaw even felt sore. From then to now, I've been experiencing severe short term memory loss. What can I take to help this and would this affect my job. Please help.

Hi,
How are you? During seizures, neurons in the brain show abnormally heightened activity. This is why it is common  to report amnesia, or memory loss, for events which happened before, during and after the period of the seizure. The anterograde amnesia may last for a few minutes to a few hours after the seizure terminates. There may also be some retrograde amnesia, or memory loss for events which occurred before the seizure. If it persists, have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. Take care and best regards.
