My son is 32 months old, he was born with Sickle Cell Anemia -Hemoglobin SC. He visited his doctor yesterday who informed me that as soon as my son received his pneumococcal and flu shots, she would stop giving him Penicillin. When my son was born and diagnosed with this disease I was told that he would receive the Penicillin to combat all infections not just flu and Pneumonia, and he would receive Penicillin at least until the age of 5. Please tell me if this is the right course of treatment; I really need know. THANK YOU.
