I take the HSV test and the results are confuse for me. Please help me with the interpretation and when is better repeat the IgG type II specific test. I take the test on February 7 2010 and I had unprotected sex
You can ignore the igm results. the igm herpes test is a greatly flawed test and we don't recommend its use in adults.
your hsv1 igg is +
your hsv2 igg is -
you had your testing done way too early though if you are concerned from an encounter on jan 7. You'll need to repeat the hsv2 igg if you are concerned anytime after april or may for more accurate answers. Should you notice any symptoms genitally prior to that, be seen for a proper exam.
The risk of contracting hsv2 from a one time encounter are very low in general so it's up to you if you feel it's worth repeat testing. Did you also cover other std's?
