positive for a decade and have an undetectable viral load and the virus is otherwise well controlled. I had a recent scare that prompted me to get a full panel of STD testing. The IgG came back at 22.7 which I understand is very high. The test was positive for Herpes 1 or 2 despite never having a genital herpe outbreak and with no real oral herpe outbreak. My questions: Does my status as HIV
positive inherently cause an elevated IgG level? Is the high IgG more or less indicative of a likelihood of an imminent outbreak? Is the high IgG at all indicative of a greater risk of genital vs. oral herpes?
Thank you
I'm not sure you had the proper herpes testing done. it appears you had a combined hsv igg if you only got 1 result . you need type specific herpes igg blood testing - you'll get a separate result for hsv1 and also hsv2.
