Please help...does this sound like herpes?

i  have over the past few months been experiencing mild/medium pain localised in a specific area of my penis...The pain is always present but sometimes gets worse (prolly cause im stressed about it). The pain feels like its under the skin and is more of an ache, it is localised on the left side of my shaft. My skin doesnt hurt at all...as i said it feels as if the pain is underneath the skin
Anyway i decided to go to the doctor when i small red spot (only one) appeared on my penis, but not where the pain is....it was in another spot and was completley painless. The doctor took a swab  just to be sure and did a herpes culture test and also tested for herpes type 1 and 2 via blood test. All tests came back negative and the doctor said the spot was most likely a pimple or just a rash. It went away after about a week.
My problem is the pain still exists and another red spot just appeared again (just as before it is painless) It looks the same as the one before but doesnt really look like a blister or an ucler...its just a pink spot
I am still worried that maybe its herpes...
I am sexually active but am in a monogomous relationship and have been for the past 7 years...My parter is the only girl ive been with also
