herpes 2 test

Just tested positive for HSV2.  Value on HSV 2 IgG was 2.62.  Hsv 1 IgG was 4.91.  I have not had any unprotected intercourse with anyone for at least 15 years.  Nor have i had any outbreaks.  Is a 2.62 IgG value for HSV 2 accurate?  Can it possibly be picking up the HSV 1 virus?  Is there any test which can tell me more precisely whether or not I have the HSV 2 virus.

With a 2.62 value on the HSV 2 test, and a high HSV 1 test, the chances of you confirming on a second different type of test is about 60%, which means there is about a 40% chance it is not a real positive.  I would recommend that you get the herpes western blot antibody test through Quest labs (they will send it to Seattle), the code is 34534. If you can't work this out with your own health care provider, then you can call my clinic, and we will assist you with getting this test ordered in your area.
