in the lower part of my labia majora...it comes intermittently and then had a yeast infection so i went to get checked. He does the speculum thing and tells me everything looked good...tells me the "paper-like cuts
" might be cos i shave that area quite frequently. I was happy to hear that but i still opted to get an std panel. Just got my results today...my hsv 1 is 35.70... neg is 0.90.
i am so crushed...i don't know what to do. i have never had any std and i thought i was clean now i find out i have this std that just...NEVER goes away!!
My question is: is there a possibility it's neg.? i keep reading that IGg is the most accurate way to diagnose but is there a chance it could be wrong?
I have always had std tests done (but i'm not sure i know if herpes was always included) and they always came back negative...guess i had been living
in fools paradise thinking i had no std. And my gyn (i have decided i'm getting another one), he was so dismissive telling me "oh it's nothing it just means u have been xposed to the virus. it's d cold sores one, nothing to be worried about". But i AM worried...it's an std!!! i am not married yet and dont have kids yet so i am terrified it could someohow affect my reproductive system...and how do i tell potential sexual
i was getting...what do i do?
Should i go for a second testing or is it moot considering the result is so much higher??
one more thing freaking me out is not knowing when i contracted it, i read somewhere that one could contract it as a kid, something as innocent as drinking from an infected person's cup...could i have had it since i was a kid? I ask cos i have had 3 sexual partners and i made each onne (didn't have them same time) go to an std testing site with me and we were always negative (again, i do not know that herpes was included. i treally never looked at the paper twice as long as i was told i was negative for std. Now i tested for evry std and i am neg for all but hsv 1 and i KEEP staring at the result. Don't know how to deal with this...please, HELP!!
Hsv1 is nothing to freak out about, you almost certainly have oral hsv1, as do I and the majority of the population; it's actually rare not to have it; regardless of there ever actually being a coldsore. Also, you shaving down there only gives more reason as to the paper-cuts being from that. You're fine. If they re-appear, have a doctor swab them to test for hsv.
a blood test only tells you what you have, not where you have it. I'm also suspicious that you had non-type specific herpes igg blood testing done. do you recall your hsv2 igg results?
oral herpes is not a std. It's very common, in fact 1 out of every 2-3 people you know has it.
