Bloody mucus in stool

by cometmollybo, Apr 05, 2009 09:12PM
I have been experiencing periods of constipation on and off for years.  Occasionally, when I had a bowel movement there would be some red blood on the stool.  After seeing a doctor for it, I was told that there was a fissure at the base of my rectum and the strain from going to the bathroom aggravated it and caused the bleeding.  Recently, I have been seeing bloody mucus with my stool, as well as sometimes without even having a bowel movement.  Could this be from the same condition I was diagnosed with before or something different?  My overall health has been pretty good, except for some allergies and sore throats.  I am also under some stress as I am completing a five year masters program next month and putting in lots of hours studying, etc.
