pelvic fluid

Is there a difference between mild/modeate free pelvic fluid and Endometrial fluid on a MRI of the pelvis? Thanks

Hi there

fluid inside the uterus is related to something going on inside the uterus such as menstruation. If someone is menopausal and has fluid, then it is possible there is an abnormal condition involving the lining of the uterus and that should be evaluated by a biopsy.

fluid in the pelvic that is free  can be normal. Alot of fluid can occur temporarily after ovulation. Abnormal conditions that produce alot of fluid that persists (which is called ascites)  can include liver disease (cirrhosis) benign tumors of the ovary (ovarian fibromas), severe infections (peritonitis), and cancers.  Usually there are associated symptoms and abnormal test results that go along with each of those conditions.

take care
