An anechoic is a simple functional cyst (anechoic just describes how the ultrasound rays bounced back I believe). Over 95% of all cysts are benign. Take a look at the health pages (top right) and there is some good info on types of cysts and symptoms and other cyst info. What symptoms are you having? What size is the cyst? What is your doctor planning? Depending on the size doctors normally wait a couple of months and repeat your ultrasound to see if the cyst resolves itself. If not then it needs to be removed. If you do have sudden and intense pain do head to the ER as your cyst might have twisted (torsion) or burst which can be a medical emergency.
