Side effects of Oral contraceptive pills

I'm 25 years of age and still single.I just want to ask if how true that oral contraceptive pills can cause thickening of the lining of the uterus. I have a polycystic ovaries and my doctors prescribe me an oral contraceptive pills. I consulted to other gynecologist and she advise me not to take a contraceptive pills cause it can cause thickenig of the lining of the uterus and instead she prescribe a metformin tablet 500mg.What will be the effect if the lining of my uterus will thickened?I'm planning to get marry next year but I am not yet ready to a have a child. What contraceptive method I can use?

I take bc pills and metformin. The bc pills are to regulate my periods and for now protect against pregnancy. Most girls who have pcos are on bc pills and metformin, they kinda go hand in hand.
