Difficult Swallowing and feeding tube

Difficult Swallowing and feeding tube

My father, who is 94, recently had to have a feeding tube installed because he was having problems swallowing after a serious operation (carotid atery blockage). He recovered amazingly well from the operation & after 2 weeks of therapy from a speech therapist was able to recover his swallowing ability & will be having the feeding tube removed next week. He is currently eating with no problems. His question to me was what, if any, is the incidence of the problem recurring? Can anyone give me any input so I can relieve his anxiety about having to return to getting nutrition via the tube. He is otherwise in very good health considering he is 94.

Thank you,

Harris Miller
