coughing smelly brownish phlegm

i have been coughing smelling brown spit for the past 5 days. The cough comes from only my right side.
If i sleep with my right side  i smell something bad coming up my throat then i start coughing, been on asthama treatement for 2weeks now, could it be the cause. I cough a lot at night and mornings.Sometimes the phlegm is clear and sometimes i plenty of clear phlegm

This may be from an infection in the upper airways.  It could be following a viral infection or a sinus infection.  Drink lots of fluids to keep the mucus thin.  If it persists, I would suggest seeing your physician to determine if an antibiotic would be a good idea.
