My wife takes spells were she coughs so much she throws up. It will stop then all at once she feels it coming again. She says she feels like she can't breathe what could be wrong?

Severe cough can often lead to “spells” or fainting.  (called cough syncope).  These spells are scary but usually not serious unless they result in a fall, especially on a hard surface or stairs.  The cough is the primary problem in that circumstance, and that is the problem that should be addressed by her doctors.  Finding the cause of a harsh cough may require a number of tests, beginning with a chest X-ray.

Good luck
