sore pussy throat for 3 months - Not mono or strep throat!??

I am a 22 year old female and here's my problem. In April and May I had tonsillitis twice a few weeks apart. I had no fever or symptoms other than red swollen tonsils with white puss and being really tired all the time. I took penicillin first time then Biaxin, both helped alot. Then same symptoms returned in June. I was given Penicillin, had blood tested and finally got a swab test done (doctors didn't do it before because were SURE it was strep throat). Tests for mono and strep throat were negative, but my throat improved on Penicillin. Then I got hit at beginning of July with a really bad cold/flu with fever, congestion and bad cough but throat was okay looking (not looking like classic strep throat like last 3 times). It's now the end of July, I still have a hacking cough, occasionally with phlegm and a bit of white puss continues to call my inflamed tonsils home. There's a pain deep in my throat that has never gone away and even when I felt my best these last three months I still felt kind of crappy and tired. I'm starting to forget what it feels like to have a normal throat? Please help! What should I do? Do I have a weak immune system? Am I stressed...I don't think I am...One more odd symptom is that I haven't had a period since May only a bit of spotting -- pregnancy tests were negative. Thank you!

It is possible that this is all coming from an infection in your sinuses that is seeding your tonsils.  The next step is to find the cause.  Seeing an ENT to look in your throat and perhaps get a CT scan of your sinuses is a good idea.
