Could shortness of breath due to anxiety last all day everyday? How severe could the shortness of breath be?

I was told by the er doctor that I have anxiety and panic attacks. My syptoms are, trouble deep breathing all the time and I can hear my heart beating and I get shaky and very anxious. I am  a super worrier about everything. He did complete blood work up and a chest xray and they are fine. I was put on Avitan and it really has helped. I take 1mg. every 6 hours, but It starts wearing off before the next dose. THey did try me on Celexa and it actually brought on a panic attack not to mention Diahrrea. So I went back on avitan. Should possibly my dose be raised up or what? Thank you,   .

sounds like anxiety.    Probably a good idea to find some kind of therapist in your area and discuss whats on your mind.     Dont give up.....in the meantime a second opinion is always a good idea.

I concur with myself that your doctor is a moron and once again urge you to get a second opinion or go straight to a Pulmanologist. Blood and urine tests will tell this doctor absolutely nothing about your lungs. Listening with a stethoscope gives him SOME information but nowhere near enough to give you a diagnosis of..........anxiety!

He only did a blood and urine test and checked me with a stethoscope.

First of all, you are NOT being annoying! It's simply that there is only so much we can tell you about your problem. We cannot diagnose it for you.
You've been to the doctor who said it was just anxiety. Perhaps your doctor is a moron. What, if any tests did he run?
If the answer is "none," you need to find another doctor and get a second opinion!
Actually, since the breathing problem is still there, I would suggest you make an appointment with a Pulmanologist and skip the middle man..............go straight to the guy who deals with nothing BUT breathing problems.
I really am sorry if my tone came off cold...........I didn't mean it like that. Please try to understand that sometimes, for us, it is just very frustrating when the people who write to us don't go to their doctors and worse yet are the people like you who DO see their doctor and get no help...........and we can only offer you the same advice about seeing a doctor.
I hope you find an answer soon.

Your questions and concerns regarding your breathing have been asked and answered several times on this forum. You have been told that we cannot give you a diagnosis and that you need to see your doctor. Our advice will not change the more you ask.

I suggest you post your questions on the Respiratory Forum for which you will find the link below.
