terrified

Anyone else have obsessive scary thoughts? NCIS is my very favorite show, the only crime show I watch, I only watch sitcoms the rest of the time because they don't scare me.Anyway last night I saw an episode of NCIS that scared the poop outta me and I can't get it outta my mind. Does this kinda thing happen to anyone else? How do you all deal with it? I'm in therapy and on meds, I have a med review with my psychiatrist today, but right now I'm terrified.

Forgot to mention. How do I deal with it. I try not to watch any TV. Hard to do as I feel guity because my husband likes to watch with me... not by himself).

Also, I read this forum!! Very helpful! especially at 5am when I cannot call anyone.
Not That call anyone anyway about this. I do talk to my therapist. I am not on Meds.

Also, I do situps, jumping jacks, pushups. up and down the stairs .... anything to burn  energy, exercise my muscles which then take my minds off what I have just dreamt.(I am out of shape so easy to get tired) I am now able to do 25 situps, 5 pushups, stairs 2 trips. Then pooped out, but my mind is to tired to think.

I also cannot watch CSI or Law and Order, or Criminal Minds or sometime even the news as I then have bad dreams that night. I was awake at 4:45am due to a bad dream. ( I watched an old Mercy last night)
Even if I watch them in the early afternoon. I used to watch all these shows regularly. That is what my husbnad I do for 'Fun'... (yes we are pathetic). Now my husband has been PVR ing them waiting for me to 'get better'. It has been 4 months.

Basically any show that has someone hurting another I then dream I am being hurt.
It is like my brain subconsciously spins the scary context into something fearful for me.

Ilove that show its so good. I usually watch the reruns at night I get freaked out too. I watch Criminal Minds every night and it way freaks me out too mu. Its so interesting I can't stop watching, but very scary. I watch it at night b4 i go to sleep. I fall asleep to it. Best advice don't watch the show at night, I know I shouldn't watch them at night but they're so interesting.

If you come to this forum, you will NEVER be alone!

Don't tell anyone, but I'm madly in love with Gibbs and I want to be Abby!

it was only one episode that bothered me, normally I'm just fine with it. Thanks for your responses, sometimes when these things get to me I feel so alone.

Hey

I to get obsessive thoughts when i have watched some shows, i had to stop watching them when i was feeling vulnrable, when i am confident i can watch them again.

You will once again feel confident enough to be able to watch them, just got to learn that you won't lose control, and that your not going crazy (If you feel the way i did)..

NCIS is my favorite show as well, and I'm glad they don't affect me the way they do you. First I would suggest you stop watching it if it has this type of affect on you. I know you like the show, but NO TV show is worth compromising your mental/emotional health over!
I would most definitely discuss this when you see your p-doc today.
Peace
