this has happened to me for going on a year now ... sometimes 20-30 times a night.... but as im drifting off to sleep i get awoken abruptly and my body is tense and shaking dramatically . i have no control over it . its actually very freightening. im alsmost convinced they're a form of seizures..... afterwards im in a lot of pain from the tensing .... then im afraid to fall back asleep bc its inevetible that it will happen again and again and again.... but the sad part is ive no chloice but to get used to it.... so im not anxious or nervous wen im goin to sleep now... actually the complete oppisite... im very calm... but i want this to stop.... cant take it much longer

I just started having this problem of waking up gasping for air just when I am about to fall asleep, I quickly sit up in the bed or couchand it takes me about 5 to 8 deep breaths to relax and start the breathing normal again. I have been up for 2 days now with this, I am seeing a Doctor on the 2nd of June so we will see , Very scary cause with me it is happening continuously.

Yes it is another symptom of anxiety.
And it's my guess you're lying there, totally focused on your breathing and you convince yourself you can't breath.
Been there. Done that.
Everyone here who has been there, done that, raise your hands.
Oh, look............can't see the forest for the hands.
I will PM you some simple things you can do to make this stop.
It's just anxiety!
Peace
