i just feel like i have a list of things wrong and dont know if its just anxiety and depression anymore. like i might have vertigo possibly from an inner ear disorder maybe they are saying. but then i dont know if its from the lack of sleep either.

I agree, frank!  Great people here, stick around.  A forum like this is helpful, for the support, sharing, educating, etc.  Even people that come here for help vs give advice manage to help others just by sharing their stories. It makes us feel less alone.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  It sounds like you've got some significant anxiety going on, with possibly a secondary depression as a result. The Depersonalization and Derealization are also symptoms of chronic and/or severe anxiety/panic.

Have you seen a doctor and received a diagnosis of an anxiety disorder?  Have you tried any treatment methods thus far, and if so...what, and what was the outcome?

You've received some great tips and advice on ways you can try to reduce your anxiety.  Therapy is always a good bet too, as a therapist can help you to explore any possible reasons for your anxiety, and teach you ways to cope.

If you haven't already, visiting a psychiatrist is an excellent first step. He/she can properly evaluate you and give you an accurate diagnosis.  Then, you can discuss with the doc what treatment options would be right for you.

One more thing, I just wanted to clarify that while caffeine can certainly exacerbate anxiety and panic symptoms, it doesn't CAUSE anxiety.  Staying away from stimulants like caffeine, and substances like alcohol greatly helps to minimize your symptoms.

Please let us know how you're doing.  Hang in there, you're not alone in this!

I honestly don't know if egg protein powder is a caffeine but if you are drinking a protein drink, it can have stuff in it that causes these episodes. The best bet is to try isolating it from your daily diet and see if there is a change.

Also, check out these links, see if it sounds like what you have, especially when you wear your glasses.

I have both, but I am able to control them and my panic disorder, so feel free to ask me questions.

There is a herb called Valerian, which is ideal for people who have sleep issues.  Valerian is a powerful herb that is non-addicitve and can be found either as a tablet or as a tea.  People who have phobias of tablets usually prefer the tea, it smells like old socks but it tastes far, far better..lol One or two cups before bed will relax u and let u drift off into a deep slumber without having that groogy feeling the next morning, like prescription medications.

There is also a supplement called Seredyn, which u can get on line which is a combo of powerful calming herbs along with calming vits n minerals, which is great for both general anxiety and phobic anxiety.

In addition as u have stated you have other issues going on, I would say seek out a psychologist who does CBT (cognitive behaviorial therapy).  Therapy is a great learning experience of ones self and can help heal a great deal of past and present stressors.

Sorry to hear about this. The anxiety can most likely be controlled without medications. The rest might need a doctors attention.

I will copy/paste some tips/techniques that I have used to control my panic attacks and I used to have TERRIBLE panic attacks. Good luck.

Ok, there are pre panic tips and full panic tips.

Let's start with the pre panic tips.

A rubber band around the wrist can help if you use it before the anxiety turns into an anxiety attack. As soon as you start to feel weird you snap the rubber band onto your wrist. For some people, this can "snap" (pun intended) them out of going into the anxiety or panic attack.

When you start to feel the anxiety coming on, think of the most odd thoughts you possibly can. Wonder what a star would look like if it were really a circle in disquise.......how many cattapilars would it take to reach from the earth to saturn if they were drinking caffine. Distracting your thoughts with such bizaare thinking will redirect your mind from getting worse.

Sit down on a bench or chair, put your head between your legs, and force yourself to breathe in deeply, and breathe out deeply. It's when the breathing gets to short and quick that the panic gets worse. At first you might feel like you  can't do it, but with practice, you can.

If you wear correctional glasses, take them off. For some reason sight plays into some peoples anxiety problems.

Ok, now for when you are in an actual panic attack.

Cold water on the face, forehead, neck, and wrists can help calm the anxiety or panic down. If it's cold enough, it's kind of like shocking you out of the attack.

To add to the cold water technique, if you are in full blown panic attack, find ice as soon as you can, put it into some kind of rag or cloth, wet it, and rub it all over your head, face, neck, and behind your ears. Again, the cold shocks the mind out of the anxiety.

Here are some tips to prevent the anxiety and or panic attacks.

Stay away from caffine, as a rule, it is the MAIN reason people suffer from anxiety disorder and panic disorder.

Surround yourself with comedy whenever you start to feel off. Laughter is another technique that can fool the brain into concentrating somewhere else.

Keep a herbal tea you made handy when you are out and about. If you want, as long as you make sure it is safe for you, I will send you some "calm down" recipies that are 100% natural and legal.

Also, there are disposable instant cold packs you can buy from 99 cent stores to use for the cold, this makes it easy to find relief when driving, at work, or some other place a sink is not always available.

hey mate, tinnitus can sometimes be caused by too much caffeine. This may explain the anxiety and the difficulty sleeping.  If not caffeine, are you taking recreational drugs (?)  If you can rule out some sort of chemical that you are putting into your body as a possible cause, then it could be psychological related.  Or it could be both?
Sometimes we worry a lot about things in our lives - we become worried about our future and other things and then we become hard on ourselves and the world in general. Sometimes its hard to sleep because we cant stop thinking about all the things that arent right in our lives. And then this ends up making things worse because we need sleep to function properly,.
So first and foremost just remember that there are a lot of people out there who can help you.  I think you should go speak to your local doctor about the tinnitus and tell them about your sleeping problems and your worries and im sure they will be able to direct you to the right person to talk about the things on your mind.  I've had a lot of sleepless nights myself and i know how enormous and over whelming things can appear to be.  But with small steps in the right direction you will see the walls coming down before you. Take care mate!
