chronic anxiety

I have generalized anxiety that starts when I first wake up and lasts through most of the day. It's a very unpleasant feeling in my chest. I've had it for a number of months and am desperate for relief. I'm on Lamotrigine and Seroquel but they don't have any effect. Does anyone else have anxiety that lasts all day, every day? And what can I do? Please help.

How long have you been on the meds? Long enough that they are working full effect(4-6 weeks) Best thing you can do is talk to your doctor. In the meantime, get 30 minutes of heart pumping exercise every day, eat really well, meditate, and take time out of your day for yourself. I have periods where my anxiety will last all day every day for weeks. I havent in quite awhile as I have finally gotten a good balance of medication but also the exercise etc helps me alot. Maybe ask your doctor about CBT? I havent had access to it but many people say it has helped them alot. Good Luck, keep us updated and I really hope you are able to start feeling better.

I used to as well.  Ask your dr. about ativan (lorapazam)?  I take 0.5mg (smallest dose) upon wakening in the morning to stave off the anxiety before it hits and I'm good for the day.  It is an anti anxiety med. and it's one of those that works right away.  I've been taking it for years.  I also agree with Alisonj29 exercise plays a good role in how you feel about yourself and feeling positive about yourself kills the anxiety.  Anxiety is usually about the negative thoughts that go through our heads.  This is just my story and what worked or works for me and every one is different.  Good luck to you and I hope you find yours!

Anxiety can definitely remain with us throughout the day in my opinion.  I would have to agree that counseling is probably the most important step you can take while going through this process. Gaining the knowledge about your anxiety makes it less confusing and can make it less scary in my opinion....keep us posted!
