borderline endometrial stripe

I was recently diagnosed with an enlarged uterus, ovarian cyst, and borderline endometrial stripe.
My GYN is recommending hysterectomy.

I am scheduled for an colonoscopy in March.
Need feedback.

I had my endo biopsy on Monday 2/25/08.  I will hear from my GYN next week on results.  The decision is to wait and watch when it comes to having a hysterectomy, unless the biopsy is positive.  I am not in menopausal stage yet.  Taking hormones is not an option, because I have Hypertension, and a history of Benign Breast, Fibroadenoma.

My colonoscopy is to rule out bleeding elsewhere.  I feel better now that you have all responded very well.

Thank you

I guess my question would be - what are your periods like (if you still have them)?  I just had a lap done for endo and they told me that my uterus was enlarged, and apparently I have something called adenomyosis.  This is similar to endo, except that the unwanted endometrial tissue actually grows within the muscular wall of the uterus, as opposed to in endo where it grows outside.  This was a little upsetting because I thought the surgery would resolve my pain at least for a little while.  Apparently adenomyosis can cause all the pain and clots etc... that endo causes, except there is no solution except for a hysterectomy.  Did they mention anything like this to you?  Do you have excessively heavy and unbearably painful periods?  Or maybe you are already menopausal?  I kept saying that as soon as I'm able to have a kid I want this **** out of me!  Just gut me and take it all!  Then I found out that if you are not menopausal yet you have to take hormones!  That made me rethink it....  Did they give you more details as to why they want to remove your uterus?  If I had to guess I'm gonna say you've been in a lot of pain?  If that's the case, I'd say the decision is yours

Here are some answers regarding some of your questions. I dont know personally because i didnt have any of those but i hope this helps.

"There are many reasons for an enlarged uterus. If the doctor did an ultrasound to rule out abnormalities, then your uterus may just sit high in your pelvis, so that you can feel it. This is usually due to scarring from previous surgery, endometriosis or infection.
The other possibility is that you are feeling a full bladder -- many thin women will feel a bulge or fullness above the pubic bone when the bladder is full. It may be the bladder itself or it may be the uterus, which does rise out of the pelvis a bit as the bladder fills. If you feel the lump, empty your bladder and see if it gets smaller.

If the ultrasound is normal, and if you are not having any pain or menstrual irregularities, there is nothing to worry about. You may just have a uterus that sits higher than the average person -- I guess you might say you are above average! "

Are you in menapause right now?  What is the colonoscopy for?  Was the cyst solid?
