Recurrent soreness/itchiness in throat

Hello All

What are the common causes for recurrent sore throats? It started somewhere in May and my doc put me on some antibiotics , it lasted for a week and then from then on am having some recurrences till now. Lately I have been experiencing some acid reflux, so my doc has put me on some protonix. I have to see if gets better. Though it is not that bad (i feel some itchiness in throat)am under constant fear to have anything cold because it could get bad. I am thinking it could be some sort of allergy, has someone had similar experience? And common reasons? Btw no fever or body aches tied to this

Regards

Thanks to both, the protonix seems to help immensely to control the acid reflux and hence the sore throat. I will follow your suggestions too

I usually take Elderberry at the first sign of a sore throat or allergy.  Seems to help quite a bit.  Hope this helps you, too.

Hi. I have had the itchy throat thing many times. The only thing I can tell is that I have allergies and certain foods make it really intense. One thing I know for sure that causes it is soy beans, especially soy protein. I have to watch everything I eat to make sure soy isn't on the ingredient label. From what I have been able to find on the internet, soy is a big culprit for this type of reaction. I would suggest watching what you eat and drink, and maybe by the process of elimination you figure out what the problem is. Good luck!
