Possible that cellulitis wasn't killed, what happens next?

I had celluitis a few weeks back. Was very allergic to the antibiotics. Tried another and still having reactions so they had me stop all antibiotics. The original area is no longer swollen, red or tender. If the drugs didn't kill it can it come back in a different area or just in the same spot.

Hi, and you are welcome. I just wanted to mention that since you took bacterim (sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim) which is a sulfa drug and clindamycin is a different class of drugs. Sulfa drugs are known to cause allergies in many people. It was probably that drug but could be both.
So be careful to not use any sulfa drugs or clinidamycin. I would eat  some yogurt with live bacteria for about a  month (two yogurts a day) or get some probiotics because clinidamycin is notorius for wiping out your gut/intestinal flora and leaving you open to getting another bacteria (Clostridium difficile) that has a toxin . Especially because you took two antibiotics for a while. Actually, I have heard some patients say that they get a rash after the fact from antibiotics and that it may be because you replace the normal bacteria with probiotics that it makes the rash go away. Not that you weren't allegic to start with just that it seems to prolong the rash when your gut flora is off.
take care,

I took bactrim and after 5 1/2 days had an intense allergic reaction of a burning sensation, needle pricking and numbness. They  put me on clindamycin. I continued to have reactions, so guess they couldn't tell if it was the bactrim still in my system or also being allergic to clindamycin. Anyway, I was on some sort of antibiotic for 71/2 to 8 days. It's been 2 weeks since I stopped the 800mg/160mg  2x a day bactrim and the burning sensation is still there but much milder. I know they think I'm weird and the reaction should have been gone in a few days. But thanks to this sight and others I've read that other people have had reactions for even longer. So I may not be average, but not a freak!!  Thanks for listening and taking the time to write.

It sounds like it cleared. If so hopefully you wont' get it back. Did you take two antibiotics or one? Which antibiotics were you on? You won't be able to take either one or any drugs in the same class next time.
