17 and having migraines

My grandaughter  has these migraines, has had them for a year, she also had endometriosis. Mom takes her to er and they give her a "cocktail" benydryl, and 2 more things....after so many er visits cant they gice her a pill to take when she feels these things coming on? Just wondered is anyone has dealt with any similar problems out there.

Thanks

Has anyone suggested that the Jaw joint position may be all or part of the cause? Abortive meds like Imitrex work to relieve ongoing symptoms. The preventive drugs like Topamax work to minimze the occurrence by reducing electrical signals. Off label drugs are those that help but were not specifically developed for HA. All of these drugs work to some degree to relieve the symptoms but not the cause. What if you could eliminate the cause?

Good that she has a grandmother like you who is watching out for her.  Your granddaughter should have been taken to a regular doctor long ago.  My neurologist absolutely hates me to go to the ER because he thinks that it sets me back with my migraines given the strong pain meds that are given there.

Also if your granddaughter is having the migraines more than 2 times a week, then she should be given a daily preventative migraine medication.  Otherwise if you take any pain relievers more than 2 days a week, you risk rebound migraines which keep continuing.

P.S. I don't know that I will be able to continue posting on Medhelp because ONLY when I come to this site, I get a scam message from supposedly MS Security Essentials telling me that I need to download critical updates.  It keeps happening too many times.  Makes me think that there is some kind of virus connected with this website.  Good luck to you.

Doesn't your granddaughter have a prescription to some strong pain pills?   They need to be taken soon after the migraines develop or they get a life of their own.  That would be wiser than going to the ER and getting the really tough stuff.
