UTI? something worse??

Help!  I'm a 25 year old female with no history of UTI or other urinary problems.  about 3 weeks ago i experienced vaginal burning/itching, went to gyno, swabbed for multiple stds, bacteria, and yeast.  all came back negative, but he put me on 7 days of augmentin anyway.  symptoms subsided.  the morning after i took my last augmentin, i woke up with severe pain/cramping in my bladder and needed to urinate about every 20 min.  got a home uti test, it was negative.  went to cvs's minute clinic and they did urinalysis, and it was positive for bacteria, was given 7 days of bactrim.  on day 4 of bactrim my symptoms (pain, urgency) had gotten worse, so i went to my GP and he repeated urinalysis, along with pregnancy test.  both were negative.   though bactrim may be masking the uti so he gave me 4 days of cipro.  also, i went to my gyno to rule out anything else, they did vaginal ultrasound and all was normal.  finished cirpo, pain is still present, as is urgency.  i will occasionally have a day when symptoms subside, but then return the next day.  got referral to urologist but they cannot see me until 14 days from now.  please help...any ideas????

Hi, you sound EXACTLY like me years ago.You have IC Interstitial cystitis. Go to the doctor so you know what to avoid. There are soo many foods & drinks that irritate IC patients, belive me I know. Regular docs wont find it. Go to a urologist, they can help but, you will have to control what you eat and drink for the rest of your life to be pain free.

ended up in the ER for the pain, went through a battery of tests (pelvic, ultrasounds, cat scans) all neg.  went to a uro-gynocologist and she said it was most likely muscle spasms.  although i suspect ic, she didnt test for it.  gave me naprox. and flexeril, so far theyve help a little, but completely constipated now.  also trying the bladder diet ( although i forsee a little cheating, it takes away absolutely everything)  also taking prosed for bladder pain.

Hi,
I just posted under, Chronic UTI's or something else by smckenn about a bladder disorder called Interstitial Cystitis, (IC). Instead of rewriting all of it here, and boring everyone, I thought I could just mention it here and you all can check it out, if you like. Good luck to you all, and I hope we all feel better soon.

I have kinda been going through the samething. Back in July I had an UTI and was treated for it with cipro. The symptoms never seemed to go away. I to would have vaginal burning. I was treated again for the symptoms, but the burning just wouldn't go away. I went to the gyno. They did a swab and she said she did she a few clue cells, but everything looked normal. She wented ahead and gave me Flagyl for Bacterial vaginosis and Diflucan to take after finishing the Flagyl. I have taken four full days of Flagyl and I still have the burning occasionally. Which this whole time the burning has only been random. I alway have a weird discharge with no odor, but a watery mucus that is around the urethra which I don't think it is coming from the urethra. I really don't know what to do, but a have spent a good amount of money going to doctors. I hope you feel better and the answers you need. If you find anything out please post.
