urge to urinate

I am a 25 year old male and have the urge to urinate every 15-30  minutes or so. I tested negative for infection and negative for diabetes. My medical doctor prescribed an antibiotic for 2 weeks but it did not improve. He referred me to a urologist which I have seen. He found no prostate enlargement but feels I may have prostatitis. He has prescribed an antibiotic for 30 days. I have been taking for 10 days and no improvement.  I dont have any other symptoms of prostatitis. Is it possible I could have something else? I am not at risk for STDs, and am a very healthly male otherwise. I am also a law student and this is interferring with my ability to concentrate on my studies so I desperatley want to find some answers.  I am quite worried about this.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The urge of frequent urination can be due to diabetes mellitus. Other possibilities are glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis(inflammation of the kidneys),urinary tract infection, hypercalcemia, hypokalemia(low potassium),hyperthyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, diuretic drugs and pregnancy.

In my opinion, investigations like kidney functions, blood sugar levels, ultrasound lower abdomen ,intravenous pyelography , pregnancy blood test, thyroid function tests and cystoscopy may be needed to confirm a diagnosis. I sincerely advise you to consult a urologist or nephrologist and get yourself evaluated so that a confirmatory diagnosis can be made. I’ll suggest consulting a urologist for the same and getting the uroflowmetry test done which actually tests the emptying of the urinary bladder.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
